Nigel you lucky bugger! Does anyone know which A350 is doing these trips? I'm guessing F-WWCF (the carbon fibre livery)?

Jonathan W
15th July 2014, 12:25 PM
I'm think it will be MSN5, F-WWYB which is built to the same production standards as future aircraft and will be used by Airbus for route proving. It is also fitted with a cabin and I believe it was originally planned to be painted like F-WWCF in the full carbon fibre livery.

This article states the aircraft will arrive on the 4th (Monday) and fly to AKL on the afternoon of the 5th (Tuesday)

dates/times

A350 MSN005 is due to arrive at 0600 on Tuesday, August 5, from Johannesburg, and will remain on the ground at Mascot until 1400.
At that time, the aircraft, which is undergoing route proving flights as part of the A350′s type certification program, will head for Auckland, where it was expected to land at 1900.

First light isn't until 0618 on Tuesday and it's predicted to be light north-westerly winds, so most likely 34L for arrival (but now that I've said that, it'll land 25....).
Fingers crossed that it runs just a little late.....

The A350 arrived just a little late this morning, touching down 6 minutes before sunrise, after doing an orbit over Canberra. It was only a short stay for a
Media session, then it was off to Auckland at 1423L.

Ok, what actually took place was: when they were taxying out, they were asked to contact the Coordinator on 126.7. On that frequency they were 'offered a short flight around the Sydney Terminal area and a missed approach to 16R to then continue on course to New Zealand'. Of course they accepted :)

So here are my few shots, from both locations.

Sorry for heavy watermarking, I have had a few important photos stolen by a major aviation company recently. Must protect our work eh.

Enjoy!
