UA - Unscheduled landing due to air rage

Not quite, but I was on a Gulf Air A340 flight between Bahrain and Sydney where an elderly gent with dementia (his wife told us he had been recently diagnosed) became agitated and started running around the cabin, up and down the aisles, making lewd suggestions to a few female passengers and trying to get to the doors. The crew were fantastic, dosed him up on his sleeping medication (we got a couple of hours peace), placated and calmed him continuously through the day. When we landed at Sydney and back in normal atmos pressure he was OK and didn't remember a thing. In hindsight some oxygen periodically may have helped it out. Everyone on-board was made aware of his condition and there wasn't a murmur of complaint. Felt sorry for his poor wife. What else could you do half way across the Indian Ocean.
I had seen an Ansett crew give an hysterical child O2 on a flight and it calmed him down, wish someone had thought of it on a flight from DXB to VIE last year. In the case of a fight or violence restraint is the only choice and get to an alternate. In the recent Oberon case, an application of the O2 bottle or equivalent was required!

Another flight had to be diverted when a woman reclined her seat and the man behind became agitated. When a flight attendant tried to calm him down, the man followed him down the aisle and grabbed his arm.
