View Full Version : Fewer planes on Saturdays?

Hi,

I'm quite new to monitoring planes, so please excuse me if my question is naïve - I've tried looking for an answer already, but haven't found anything. I've been tracking ADS-B transmissions for almost a month now and I've noticed that on every Saturday, there seems to be fewer planes being observed, whilst Sunday has about the same amount of traffic as every other day of the week.

Is there any particular reason for this dip in plane traffic on Saturdays? Viewing other Sydney feeders' ADS-B statistics on FlightAware shows a similar dip on Saturdays, so it doesn't appear to be something localised to my location.

Thanks :).

Generally Saturdays from about 10am flights aren't very well patronised...as you would expect as everyone is at their destinations for the weekend. As an airline worker I find the two busiest times for patronage are Friday and Sunday nights, as you would expect flights are catered to patronage demands hence you would find less on days with less pax (i.e.. Saturday), hope that makes sense!

That makes perfect sense. Thanks for the information, Zac :).
