What a beautiful morning to wander around the Bankstown hangers to see if I could find the EC-145 VP-CPB, that I picked up on ADS-B yesterday. I was
also interested to see how the Erikson Skycranes were going with their setup for operations this summer, after being delivered to Mascot by Antonov
AN-124-100 RA-82081 last Saturday.

One of the Skycrane pilots said, "they had two very busy days at Mascot after unloading "Gypsy Lady" and "Ichabod" from the Antonov, however they were
operational by Monday at Bankstown when their contract started". Both Skycranes are S-64 "E" models, and are parked in their usual location, on the grass
down near the Toll facility.

Awesome shots once again Grahame.

Never get tired of looking at choppers.

Just out of curiosity, how much do they take off the sky cranes in order to get them into the antonov?

Cheers

Adam

Thanks Todd and Adam,

Here is a link to my DC-3 Images (http://yssyforum.net/board/showthread.php?t=2602&highlight=2100550) from Bankstown in 2009, when they were working on it in Hanger 272.

For transport on the Antonov, I believe they only need to remove the Skycrane's rotor head, blades and undercarriage. I also remember one of the pilots saying there was only 2 inches of clearance vertically once the Skycrane was inside the Antonov.

There are some photographs (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1063112) here.
