View Full Version : Virgin Australia: through-checked baggage?

Hello,
Later this year I am flying with VA from the Gold Coast to Perth, on 2 separate/individual flights (ie. not booked on the same ticket) OOL-SYD, SYD-PER.
Is it possible that I could get my baggage through-checked to Perth upon check-in at OOL, or is that not part of the airline's policy given these flights were not booked on the same ticket?
Cheers

VA will not through check baggage on separate PNRs.
If you have connecting flights on separate bookings you will be required to collect your baggage and check in for your next flight at the transfer port

Thanks for that MarkR. It does make sense.
I assume if I contact the airline in advance they will not be able to merge my two separate flights onto one PNR without having to pay a 'change fee'?
(essentially cancelling my current flights and booking them onto the 1 ticket - which I can do online, although it would cost 2x $80 change fee plus any fare difference)

They can probably merge it, or link the two together. Worth a try.

Sabre doesn't allow it, and linking them won't work either I am afraid.

Thanks Zac M, thanks MarkR.
I didn't think I had a chance, but thought I would ask here anyway.
Cheers
