Does anyone here know what's going on with the construction across RW25/07 from the domestic precinct? Clearly it will have aircraft access from taxiway Charlie, but is it remote parking? VA's long delayed hangar? A regional bus/boarding area?

Stand off bays for 2 Code E or 5 Code C aircraft. Access will be via Charlie then Kilo.

So just hardstand, storage not boarding? (ie no fuelling like the bays south of the intl terminal).

I'm pretty sure it's just hardstand. There's no hydrant facilities on the bays as far as I'm aware.

A new hydrant area would be expensive.

I was just hoping for the turboprop precinct that I saw in a Master Plan.

That may well happen in the future....nothing stays the same in aviation!

If it were to become a turboprop precinct, access to the area via fuel tanker is readily available.

Is this location just near the long term car park - on the south side of the east-west runway?

Yep, immediately east of Twy Kilo, north of the ATC Tower

Most turboprops would refuel straight from a tanker. I don't know many that would get it straight from a hydrant.

It happens in CNS on occasion with the Q400, but that's just due to whichever fuel truck is on shift at the time.

Just an update, the new Kilo Stand-off Apron was commissioned today, initially for day time ops only.

As a slight amendment to the above regarding parking, it can hold 2 Code E (up to B747-400) or up to 4 Code C (A320/B737 or equivalent) aircraft. Bay numbers are 120 (western bay) and 121 (eastern bay) for the 2 Code E bays. Bay 120 and the aircraft faces north east, Bay 121 and it faces north west. The secondary parking positions all face south.

Hi,

Would anyone know if there is a map available somewhere, which shows SYD airport's runways, taxiways and all the parking bays?

Thank you,

Steve

Google Maps & Earth are now updated with the Kilo Apron imagery. From the left the four Code C Bays are 120A, 120B, 121A and 121B. You can also see the markings for the two angled Code E Bays.
