I've read various reports that REX has picked up between 2-4 new "old" SAAB's to service the new WA routes.

The first Saab 340 N416XJ ferried into ADL on 14/11/15.

Does anyone who the full story ?

I heard they picked up two, likely see these in the east before heading north or west.

N416XJ became ZXF on 03/12

Interesting that REX have gone for the old QF B767 registration.

Not to much to choose from regarding new rego blocks these days!

Rumor has it that there are up to four more on the way so they may reuse the remaining ZX. block.

ZLK is in the hangar closest to N302AG and unsure of the rego of the aircraft (worked it out to be YRX) which has had paint in the other hangar

Based on a little research the other REX candidates maybe:

N452XJ, N439XJ, N407XJ

All are currently stored at KBGR

Interesting they stopped at Orange enroute to WGA. Must've been some very tight crew hours!?

Greg Hyde

Isn't Orange REX's home base ?

Maybe showing off new bird.

RXA658 was VH-ZXG first service. Missed getting photos of it but got its return this evening.

Still wears part of the former livery and the US rego has been stickered over.

For a company that bought a paintshop they're behind on their repainting! The ugly ex-Nokair Saabs are still running around.

Robert.M

Thanks. :)

REX is waiting on council to do the work that is necessary for it to be used as a paint shop. All the other hangar space has been taken up by other aircraft that are in for maintenance.

Nice shot.

Looks like ZXG has been doing LAPS between WGA-SYD-WGA since entering service.

That was, when I was with them several years ago, standard practice with 'new' aircraft to the Rex fleet.
The reason? Engineers at both ends in case things haven't quite bedded down yet.

I think the exception has been ZXK which went into service in ADL. ZXF would be the next, which is also in ADL.

Interestingly ZXK (http://flightaware.com/photos/view/1333402-efc023d0b8c68a52e0f9174f73f2be2b2ef6f010/aircrafttype/SF34) still wears most of its former livery!

Looks like maintenance is a little busy at the moment.......
