Interesting video from BA on it's A318 operations into London City.

The government recently announced they are upgrading the airport and extending the runway to allow more extended range operations.

Impressive,

Wasn't London City designed for BAe146 STOL ops ?

Not originally, DO228 and Dash 7s were the original scope, runway mods four years after opening along with a glide path change suitable for 146 ops opened up more options.

The first time you land at LCY it feels as though you are being tipped forward off your seat.
The savvy traveller picks a seat at the rear of the aircraft, as they always park nose out, and use both forward and rear doors for disembarking. My record time from wheels touching the runway to standing on the Docklands Light Railway platform was 4 minutes (yes it was a domestic flight, so no passport control.)
