Hi Niall,
Can't help with ID.. But will be heading over to Bankstown in the next few days so if you wanted me to grab a few photos or ask questions feel free to let me know. Its such a shame that the museum is closed now.. How did you get into the cockpit of the 727??

I was just driving around Bankstown and the road seemed to be closed leading up to it.
I just chanced my arm drove up and when I got there the front door was open.I went in and met the guy who is restoring the DC-3 there at the moment(his name escapes me)
Himself and another chap who werte very friendy showed me around. They also opened up the 748 for me to have a look at.

Still going through my photos 4 months later :D

What are you needing, type, rego, history? Second image (JHG) is a type of aircraft that always made my life difficult working in the tower at Bankstown, a PA60 or Ted Smith Aerostar. Popular with bank runs, they are a high performing twin (now there is a jet powered version) with high accident rates. I note this one has a very similar colour scheme to PWV, perhaps started life with the same operator.

Third picture shows the forward section of a Piaggio 166, I suspect it's the former VH- GOB

First picture is a twin bonanza, I suspect it's the former VH-SKY

Hi Niall,

The PA-60-601 (AEROSTAR 601) registration is VH-JHG (https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-A92qpjvqa5E/V-zhK6WhF6I/AAAAAAAALg0/q4wBEj45_dk/s640/blogger-image-1551062991.jpg)

Thanks guys
Ive updated my Flickr account with the details of the Aerostar & P166

All thats left(prob for now lol) is the 727 and what looks to me like the remains of a Twin Bonanza

Thanks Markr ...VH-SKY Is the Beech 50

The B727 cockpit came from B727-51F RP-C8016 that was scrapped in Cairns in 2010.

The Australian Aviation Museum is now closed at Bankstown but is on the move to Camden in 2017. I hope it has a successful future.
