Two Hours Of Sydney Departures

Check out the full 97.3 megapixel interactive image at http://www.16right.com/…/int…/Runway-34L-Departures-Panorama (http://www.16right.com/spotting/interactive-images/Runway-34L-Departures-Panorama)

Last Sunday I finally managed to get the conditions I was after for a mass departure time lapse panorama at Sydney Airport (blue skies and
Runway 34L Ops). In just over 2 hours from 0948-1214L, I shot 860 images to produce the background, and allow me to overlay the aircraft
on their correct flight paths, without overlaps. There are 98 aircraft visible in the panorama, with 44 in the air.

The full resolution image is 19,742 x 4,927 pixels, and the interactive display allows you to Pan, Zoom, and Hover/Tap on an aircraft to display
Flight and Aircraft details.

Hi Grahame, Oh, the photographs are so awersome and you made very clever to add lots of aircrafts taking off YSSY and no one ever to match these photographs. Congrulations!!!! Hope to see you soon. Regards, Barry Cook.

Very impressive Grahame.

Find it hard to get out to the airport these days, now I live further away where once I could get to the airport in fifteen twenty minutes. Now it can take over an hour.

Will definitely try and get there again once Shep's mound reopens.

Regards
Warren

Hey Grahame, Excellent work! Any chance you'd consider printing a few copies of the full panorama for those interested?

Looking into a few poster options Nathan, and will post some info if I can make it work.

I use Digital Works (http://www.digitalworks.net.au/owners/Index.htm) in Hallam. Their service and prices are great, and their turnaround is very prompt.

Grahame, did you end up finding a commercial outlet for this pic, and if so where can we buy a print or copy?

Hi John, It is with the Marketing Team at the Sydney Airport Corporation at the moment, and hopefully they will get back to me soon with their thoughts.

Excellent! Good luck and hope it works out for you.

I look forward to buying a print just as long as SACL dont price it like their car parks :)

You produce some fabulous stuff, Grahame, but this one is your best ever. A truly fantastic creation. I can't imagine how many painstaking hours went into this but a big thanks from the aviation enthusiast community for this one!

Cheers!

Thanks Philip, The panorama was shot over 2 hours (860 images), and created in Photoshop over the next week. I have seen a number of other images like this but was never sure they were real (just a collage of aircraft on a background). This one is definitely real, with the aircraft positioned accurately along their departure or taxi position. There are 117 aircraft in the image.
