not often we see 24 being used for anything other than landings over here...but right now its being used for t/o, must say the WX has been absolutely shizen-house over the past few days. just came back from out that way and saw a few takeoffs of 24, strong westerly has been ripping battering the coast.

I read this at school and my heart jumped! I logged out and went to stand out in the cold! Was worth it though!

Managed to see what i think was the ozjet 737 heading off to Denpasar (loud!) and also 9M-MRQ Malaysian 772ER heading off to KL (got to lost the sound of those engines!)! They take off right over school...an SAA A342 makes a lot of noise during class:p

And also as i was getting home i got to see a fairly low A345 coming in from Dubai, A6-ERH ops EK420.

Thanks for the info Montague:)

Also, does anyone have some kind of plan for the runways at PER? I've looked in the past but with little luck...appreciate it:)

Thanks

You mean like this (http://www.airservicesaustralia.com/publications/pending/ersa/FAC_YPPH_28-Aug-2008.pdf)?

Exactly what i was looking for, thanks David!

Just a question, say an acft took off from Rwy 24, it would be heading off in a direction to the left of the diagram there?

not necessarily, depends on its destination...the Ozjet you saw went off 21, Qantas 738 went off 24 and made a very early left turn so its probably headed back east.

Ahh, that would explain that i could only just see the ozjet and take a guess on the livery, but the Malaysian 777 i saw flew directly over my head (school is in claremont btw)

by that time of the day they were coming off 21...anyways, the SID for most Asian destinations sees aircraft routinely fly over that area enroute to Singapore & KL.

Looked like it wasn't yet high enough to make a turn.

They used to make the turn around Carousel area when departing 21.... Loved it then since I stayed near there and could get those banking shots of the heavies!
