A FIRE broke out on the tarmac of Hong Kong’s international airport on Monday, with black smoke seen billowing near the belly of an American Airlines plane.
The blaze began around 5.30pm (8.30pm AEDT) in one of the parking berths and one person was injured, police said.
“When a loading vehicle was loading cargo onto the plane it caught on fire,” a police spokeswoman said, adding that it was an empty American Airlines flight.

ASN reporting

American Airlines flight AA192 was being loaded when a container loader suffered a malfunction. A fire erupted, eventually engulfing a cargo container.

Problem may of been loader rather than the load

Equipment rather than cargo does make sense.

Quick, lets get our phones out and take photos and videos instead of grabbing a fire extinguisher.

It doesn't look as though the aircraft (N727AN) has flown again according to Flightaware.

Does anyone know what damage the aircraft suffered? In some photos the fire looks as though it is engulfing the aircraft. In others the fire is blowing away from the aircraft. There is no report in The Aviation Herald so maybe the aircraft escaped too much damage.
