View Full Version : Kiwi returning to Oz

Greg Hyde
28th October 2017, 11:41 AM
ZK-ZQA was cancelled from the NZ register on 25/10.

It is believed to be returning to the QF mainline fleet and take up it's old reg of VH-VZF.

It's been in Brisbane since the 25/10.

This was the 75th B737 delivered to QF.

James Smith

Possibly due to the increasing use of the A332 to Auckland from Sydney.

Rowan McKeever

And Melbourne and Brisbane. And reduced Australian domestic flying of the A330s, and increase in B737s on flights to Perth from the east coast.

Did it ever fly in Australia as VH-VZF as I have it as being delivered as ZQ-ZQA. Perhaps it was allocated but never taken up ?

MarkR
31st October 2017, 08:49 PM
Was delivered as VZF and remained under that rego for 16 days, although the nosewheel doors had the ZQA already painted.

Qantas has advised Jetconnect (NZ) of its preferred option to transition the seven New Zealand registered B737s onto the Qantas Air Operators Certificate (AOC).

The reasoning, is the low utilization of the JetConnect fleet.

VZG returned to QF mainline service on 23/02 with QF798 Brisbane – Cairns.

Did anyone notice a name ?

According to planespotters.net, VZG is called 'Yarralumla'.

Was VH-VZH previously ZK-ZQC?

ZK-ZQC now in BNE after arriving as QF124 from AKL on Mar 8. Looks like it will emerge as VH-VZH in a couple of weeks.

Any update on when the next Jetconnect 737 will be converted back to AUS Register?

Greg Hyde
11th May 2018, 05:56 PM
ZK-ZQE completed its work with Jetconnet yesterday (10/5) when it completed QF120 from Auckland to Brisbane.

It is expected to return to its original rego of VH-VZJ

James Smith
11th May 2018, 09:00 PM
Greg, do you know what registrations the last two Jetconnect 738s (ZK-ZQG & ZK-ZQH) will adopt when they are finally VH registered. I presume that unlike the other six 738s that these two did not have a VH allocated registration before service with Jetconnect.

The only two registrations in the VZ block that are not allocated to QF are VZN & VZQ and these do not look to be currently available for allocation by CASA, so must be currently utilised.

Ricky T
11th May 2018, 10:28 PM
VZQ seems to be available as a CASA search indicates no aircraft is registered using this registration so QF can use it if it wishes.

Greg Hyde
12th May 2018, 12:06 PM
VH-VZJ was originally reserved but not taken up.
ZK-ZQG was VH-VZN (ntu) now a glider
ZK-ZQH was VH-VZQ (ntu)

James Smith
12th May 2018, 02:12 PM
Thanks Greg. From your previous post ZK-ZQE will become VH-VZJ and I presume that ZK-ZQD will become VH-VZI and ZK-ZQF will become VH-VZK.

It will be interesting to see if VZQ is utilised and whether VZN can be purchased from the glider owner.

Zac M
12th May 2018, 06:12 PM
I believe VZN is actually a Hot Air Balloon based in Canberra, I think Hot Air Balloons have a pretty limited life span and this one will be three years old

Greg Hyde
13th May 2018, 02:58 PM
thanks, Zac, I should of double checked before I posted.

I can't see QF buying a rego just to keep up a sequence.

VA bought BZG in 2010 to honour Brett & Zahra Godfrey (BZG). Virgin Blue’s first CEO. I believe that several VA tickets changed hands for the rego.

Greg Hyde

VH-VZJ was added to the register on 11/5

Greg Hyde

When do the last couple come back to the Aussie register.

Zac M
25th July 2018, 06:16 PM
I think they are just coming back as they are due for heavy maintenance. I would expect at least one will be due in the next few weeks

Just a question gents, according to Flight Aware ZK ZQD, F, G and H are all still flying with their ZK rego's. I got the impression from here that there were only 2 left ????? Tonight D arrived in SYD from AKL at 20.43, F arrived in MEL from WLG at 18.53, G arrived in AKL from MEL at 23.43 and H arrived in AKL from SYD at 21.02.

Part of the whole project is to ensure that the JetConnect pilots match the aircraft in conversion. Currently, 50% are Australian aircraft register compliant, and 50% are solely on the NZ registered aircraft. So their conversion courses have to match the transfer dates to maintain the operations of the unbalanced fleet.

ZK-ZQD arrived into BNE as QF120 this morning and has no further flying scheduled for the next 5 days at least, appears it will now be moved to the VH register as VH-VZI

Greg Hyde

thks Zac

ZQD was deleted from the NZ reg on 23/08

Erik H. Bakke
24th August 2018, 03:49 PM
Would that be legal, to fly with the ZK-ZQD rego after it has been cancelled from the NZ register?

Or are there exemptions for ferry flights such as this?

Zac M
24th August 2018, 04:13 PM
The registration would have been cancelled after arrival in Brisbane yesterday.
