Did Qantas get it right ? - They steered away from the all over livery designs of Nalanji and Wunala Dreaming, and came up with a fresh approach, which is a good compromise of Indigenous Art and Branding - It looks impressive on the Apron - It's a Thumbs Up from me. By the way, there are 5,000 dots.

Superb photos Grahame. Thanks for posting for those not able to get to Sydney Airport.

Thanks for sharing your photos, Grahame. The tail colour is a much deeper red, when compared with the tail colour of the 738, also in the new livery, in the background of your second last shot.

Nice shots, the cloud cleared for a blue skies arrival.

Was there a press release with the number of dots ?

There are 5,000 Dots apparently, but it's not easy to actually confirm that.

The sun was popping in and out of the clouds while it was making its approach, the last two shots probably had the best all over illumination.

It could prove somewhat difficult to get shots with the design brightly lit, without blowing out the white at the nose - time will tell.

It's on MEL-SYD Domestic services for a couple of weeks, so there is plenty of time to get out for a shot, before it starts International services from its Melbourne Base.

Was there a press release with the number of dots?

Yes Greg. Today's QANTAS press release stated that there are close to 5,000 dots on the aircraft.

If anyone wants a photo opportunity, ZND is on descent into Sydney now operating QF422 from Melbourne.

And if you missed it, bad luck. It just departed.

Where did you take those shots from on the delivery flight Grahame?

Any chance it will be used domestically until at least 12 April, when I arrive in Australia?

As far as I know, all domestic ops cease on Friday 23rd March. With LHR starting from the Saturday 24th, and LAX continuing, there’s no room in the 4 aircraft for domestic.

Can you book and fly domestically from Melbourne to Perth or vice versa on QF9 or 10 when it commences services via Perth to London on 24/3/18?

Reece, The delivery shots in Sydney were taken from the Container Terminal at the end of Swamp Road (on the airport side of Ikea).

You can, but from what I’ve seen there’s a price difference versus the other QF flights on the route.
