A very clean example of the Antonov AN-12BP taxiing for departure off Runway 34L at Sydney Airport today. UR-CAK arrived 2hrs earlier from Surabaya, and then departed back to Denpasar. Looking very smart for 52yrs old, those massive smoke trails from each engine was 60s magic.

Unfortunately there was too much heat haze for the AN-12 arrival, however the departure was somewhat better.

Thanks Grahame. I heard something loud overhead in the inner west yesterday, but used flightradar rather than eyes to work out what it was - and missed seeing the AN12 as a result :(

Interestingly she diverted to Darwin and is still there.

Yesterday HL7734 operated once again the 2nd Jin Air charter to OOL

After a very short 2 day visit to Sydney, it was time to say Au revoir to French President Emmanuel Macron at Sydney Airport. The French Air Force Airbus A330-200 F-RARF was quickly on its way to New Caledonia, departing off Runway 34R under blue skies.

There were two additional support aircraft, one was a French Air Force Airbus A340-200 F-RAJB, which departed shortly after the President's aircraft off Runway 34L, and also heading for New Caledonia. The other was a French Air Force Dassault Falcon 7X F-RAFA, which departed shortly before the President's aircraft off Runway 34L, and also heading for New Caledonia.

With all the focus on the 3 French Air Force aircraft, and the visit by French President Macron, it would have been very easy to miss this rare little gem Dash 8-100 operated by PNG Air Cargo. P2-MCG flew Port Moresby-Carins-Roma-Sydney in 6hr 45min, arriving at 0548L on Thursday 3rd May 2018.

Delivered on the 29MAR18, and just over five weeks old, UPS Boeing #B747-8F N609UP made her first visit to Sydney Airport this afternoon. Now all five of the new UPS B747-8F Freighters have visited Sydney, with three more still to be delivered from the initial order of eight.

There was another rare visitor at Sydney Airport this evening, with Abu Dhabi Amiri Flight Boeing B787-9 A6-PFE arriving from Christchurch as AUH5. The Dreamliner touched down on Runway 34L just after sunset, and taxied to DOM6 Bay 97

I have been chasing this brand new Bell 505 for a month now, and it's the third of only four on the Australian Register. While waiting in the car to photograph the Abu Dhabi Amiri Flight Boeing B787-9 A6-PFE arriving, my iPhone alarm goes off and indicates that Bell 505 VH-HRH had just lifted off at Kangaroo Valley and was heading my way. As you might guess, they both arrived at the same time, however I managed to catch this long shot, which will have to do for now.

The USAF C-17A Globemaster III 10-0221 arrived at Sydney Airport at 1935L yesterday, and is parked on DOM6 Bay 98 today (Saturday) - The sky matched the aircraft paint scheme today .

This week UPS was announced as the Official Logistics Partner for "EXPO 2020 DUBAI UAE", and today the first aircraft to carry the EXPO 2020 logo arrived at Sydney Airport. UPS Boeing B747-44AF N574UP touched down on Runway16R and taxied on ALFA to the Cargo Apron.

This morning saw a first visit at Sydney Airport by Fiji Airways Airbus A330-200 DQ-FJO, formerly operated by Air Seychelles as S7-ADB. The airline will also add a second Air Seychelles A330-200 to their fleet, both on lease for 4 years, while they analyze their long-haul requirements.

A rare daylight visitor at Sydney Airport today, as Toll Freight's Boeing B737-300F ZK-TLE arrives at Bay 92. The aircraft is covering for the DHL B757 Freighter VH-TCA, which currently has some technical problems at Auckland Airport.

AirAsia A330 9M-XXD made its first visit to Sydney in the new UFC livery, after only returning from the Paint Shop on the 19th May 2018.

Although Hainan's “Hai Manchester” livery was used to launch their inaugural Beijing-Manchester service back on 10JUN16, this was my first opportunity to photograph the aircraft. B-8287 has only been to Sydney Airport three times, and is seen here departing RW34L this morning
