Last night's QF568 from Perth to Sydney was diverted to Melbourne to a loss of cabin pressure. SMH link (https://www.smh.com.au/national/perth-to-sydney-qantas-flight-lands-in-melbourne-after-mid-air-emergency-20180414-p4z9kd.html)
Flightaware shows descent rates in excess of 4500fpm from 39000' before stabilising at 9900', with later cruise at 17000'. QF568's planned flightpath was much further north than most PER/SYD flights (passing north of Forrest and overflying Coober Pedy and Leigh Creek), with the rapid descent occurring very close to the WA/SA border. Interestingly, the incoming flight (QF653 from Melbourne to Perth) also planned an inland flight (passing north of Forrest). Flightaware link (https://flightaware.com/live/flight/QFA653/history/20180413/1056Z/YMML/YPPH)
