A Southwest Airlines 737-700 CFM56 engine explodes during a flight from Dallas to New York. Shrapnel from the blown engine caused a window to be blown out with a woman being partially drawn out. She was pulled back by other passengers. It is unclear if she was the passenger who was killed.

It is being reported on various TV channels and media outlets that the deceased was indeed the lady who was partially drawn out through the blown out window .

Surprised she remained in the aeroplane to be frank, I saw some films on decompression as part of my ATC training and in all cases the body next to the window was actually sucked out in a flash. Horrible way to go, and most unlucky given her location in the plane.
