Hi everyone, I thought it would be nice to create a thread for An124 movements around Australia as I haven't seen one before. Please feel free to contribute as I alone will not be able to moniter every single An124.

Also, does anyone know why there are so many An124s in Australia currently? I mean some of them have been staying for quite a while on the ground parked. I was monitering RA-82044 and it flew from Rockhampten to Cairns and then it seemed to stay there for like 3 weeks before it took off for Darwin, which for a planespotter like me, is very uncommon. I do apologize if this happens quite frequently as it has only been a year or so since I started planespotting.

It is very common thing. There is not all that work around the world for these aircraft.Better to stay put to something comes up elsewhere.:)

124's are usually used for generators, mining equipment, military vehicles, tanks and helicopters, large pop bands etc.So you will see them around military exercises such as ROK and Generators to say ADL and recently car or motor cycle events in MEL and Rolling Stones type concerts.

She actually went back to ROK to pick up the 4 Apaches she brought down from Singapore and then went to DRW and SIN, presumably it was decided CNS was a better place to take a break for a few weeks
