Having recently moved to the Bankstown area, I am interested in finding out the following information:
1) Is Bankstown Airport a 24 hour operation?
2) What is the largest plane that can land at the airport?
3) Are there scheduled services that depart from the airport (much like Essendon) or is it mainly charters, training school, private jets, etc?

I’m hoping my response is accurate , perhaps others could elaborate further
1) . Bankstown is a 24hr operation , with emergency and air freight operations taking place overnight mostly
2) . ATR and Bae 146 aircraft regularly operate into and out of Bankstown on freight flights , and the F70 has operated passenger charters of late , usually on sports team flights . Much larger aircraft have operated into Bankstown in the past , with the Super Constellation being one of them .
3). No RPT ( regular passenger flights ) operate into Bankstown , as you say training , air freight and exec operations make up the majority of movements .
Hope this helps

The Terminal building is normally unlocked during business hours, so you can walk through the terminal to access a viewing area.
If you enter via Henry Lawson Drive you can drive around the perimeter to get to the other side.

The E190 is probably the largest current resident ie https://www.jetphotos.com/photo/10109307
When I worked there in the tower the airport was the busiest in the Southern Hemisphere with over a thousand movements a day.

Oh, so it's actually a public road inside the airport rather than restricted area?
