Broome will be one of four initial destinations in a new inter-regional flight network, which will include flights to Karratha, Geraldton and Port Hedland.

The services between the regional centres will be exclusively operated by Kimberley-based airline Aviair, which will operate De Havilland Dash-8 Q400 turbo-prop aircraft with a capacity of up to 76 passengers.

The IFRN is financially supported by a $4.05 million state-government funding, with another $3.25 million jointly funded by the Cities of Karratha and Greater Geraldton, the Town of Port Hedland and the Shire of Broome over four years.

The Shire’s four-year contribution to this pool will be $674,897, which was approved at the March 30 Ordinary Meeting of Council.

As well as providing more comfortable, quicker, and affordable links between Geraldton, the Pilbara and Kimberley, the IRFN will provide a significant boost to Broome’s economy, with 23 new direct Broome-based jobs at Aviair and the opportunity for the town to become a regional aviation maintenance, logistics and trading hub.

By avoiding the need to travel via Perth, IRFN will offer a quicker option for FIFO workers, and inter-regional tourism.

An economic impact assessment commissioned by Aviair suggests the 76-seat services running three times per week (11,856 seats annually) could result in up to $1.29 million to Broome’s annual tourism expenditure during shoulder and off-peak periods.

Edit: looking at the CASA register that does seem correct. Perhpas the others I've seen have been allocated but not yet formally registerd?

Kimberley region with high hopes for competitive flight prices as new airline Nexus takes off

Aviation consultants and community leaders across Australia's north hope the introduction of a new airline will drive down prices and increase competition.

Nexus Airlines flew its first service on the Broome-Kununurra-Darwin route on Friday, joining Airnorth as the only other airline flying the Western Australia-Northern Territory run.

Tim Collins from Upstream Aviation said bringing more options into the region was great news for locals and other passengers.
"It's going to massively increase choice and … there are potentially two flights a day rather than just one," he said.

"It brings in competition. It will ultimately lower prices and it's convenient for travellers."

Locals have been waiting for the alternative route for months, with the existing carrier facing criticism last year for reliability issues it blamed on a pilot shortage.
Airnorth currently operates about four weekly flights from Broome to Kununurra, carrying about 224 passengers a week

Aircraft have changed ownership as far as leasing companies go:

Specialist regional aircraft lessor, TrueNoord, has completed a sale agreement for 11 aircraft with Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC). This portfolio of aircraft, comprising four Dash 8-400s, three E175s and four E190s, will increase TrueNoord’s fleet of new and young in-production turboprop and regional jets to 87 aircraft. The transaction sees TrueNoord welcome Australian airline Aviair and European lessee airlines LOT and Widerøe, as well as increase its footprint with existing North American airline customers, Air Canada and Breeze Airways. The integration of all 11 aircraft is targeted to be completed during Q1 2024.
