Grahame could you help me with this one, I picked this up on PP, N382AE showed up as a SAAB 340B registered to American Express. I assume its a mistake but would like your feedback. It was traveling SW from Sydney.

Nick, from memory REX have picked up a few American Express SAAB 340s. The electronics probably have not been re-programmed. There are a few aircraft that get around with different registrations programmed in their ACARS, to that on the fuselage.

Nick,
This was an Ex: American Eagle Saab 340B hence the 'AE' in the reg. I assume on delivery to replace more 'A' models.

Joseph,
The program is called PlanePlotter, costs 25 Euros to register and be warned. It is addictive!

Sorry, many thanks for the info Grahame! I thought it may have been a mistake but after posting I thought it may have been a new REX aircraft.

That'd be the future VH-ZLO, and it'll be one of the last times it appears on ACARS... the magic box gets ripped out as part of the conversion when it gets to WGA.

Did you come to Australia from the US with no money and just a swag claiming you were going to use your survivalist techniques to live while here and camp in the "outback"?

Scott, this was a reference to an episode of Border Security in which a US Citizen came to Australia with no money and claimed that he would do favours for people and camp in the bush using his "survivalist" skills to make it by whilst he was here. The guy sounded pretty crazy.

Oh okay. Have only heard about the show but I think it started well after I left Oz. Crazy what some people say to immigration officials.
