Hi Folks,

-OEB at been at SIAEC in Singapore for a few weeks now, anyone know when it's due back in Oz? I've heard from many credible sources this will be the first QF B744 in the new livery.

I also presume with the time it's been away that it's undergoing a C or D check at the same time.

Anyone know more?

cheers

Tom/WA

It was due to be finished in SIN on 27/03/08 but it arrived 2 days later than originally scheduled for the C check so it should be back in the next few days if they are on track.

As to when and where it comes back I don't have any info.

Cheers as always BS.

Interesting article in the current issue of AA about QF aiming towards doing 90% of their heavy checks in Aust..... OJE/OEB/EBY both recent heavy checks in SIN, EBW in Dec07 at HAECO and the A333 in Manila with LH earlier this month!

OEB just touched down - anyone at Shep's Mound would have got a great view of it.

I ran across the airport but only made it down near the JetBase entrance!

Hey AJ

Looks great!

Went to PM you but realised PMs haven't been enabled here yet. Any chance you can email me at deputy@ausaviation.com.au?

Cheers

Nice work AJ and Benny... appreciate you taking the time to get the photos.

That 2nd photo of yours Benny looks wonderful!

The revised livery is certainly an improvement over the previous:

VH-OEB (http://www.airliners.net/photo/Qantas/Boeing-747-48E/1297919/L/)

It's been a long wait, although it's certainly been worth it.

Thanks again Anthony and Benny!

Cheers

Yes it does look good on the 744's that for sure, still not a fan of it on the 738's though.

Looking forward to seeing it on the A380 :D

Thanks David!

I got to agree with Andrew M that it definitely looks much better than the B738 and A332.

Anthony and Benny - well done! Fabulous shots :D You have both done very well!

It seems to be growing on me but I don't like the tail on the engines (looks funny) and moving the title/Longreach name.

I was at Sheps Mound,
Got first shot of OEB on the ground.
Heat haze was quite substantial, but nonetheless turned out ok.
What a nice c/s

It looks great on the 747-400 but for some reason it looks weird on the A330-200 - makes it look like a toy or something.

David Ramsay
1st April 2008, 02:14 PM
It is a toy, it was built by Airbus.

Grant Smith

Don't be like that David... They're all someone's toys... Be they Airbus or Boeing...

Nice Pic's guys.

Still dont like the look of that Kangaroo, or the way the engine logos are placed......:o

I like the look of it, makes the 744 look longer.

'Longreach' titles looked better closer to the nose and lower, but I'm sure we'll all accept them eventually...

Paintscheme looks a lot sharper, as it does on all types it has been demonstrated on thus far. The Dash 8 and 744 look the best so far, in my opinion.

I have a feeling the question may have been answered on the old board, but what will come of the special paint-scheme aircraft?

The Qantas titles seem to be smaller than on the 330.

What does it say above Longreach?

Looks like "Phillip Island" to me, though im probably wrong.

Looks much better to me. More vibrant red, and i like the italic style of Qantas.

I actually think the new paint scheme suits the B744 pretty well (much better than the A332)

You are correct Rhys, the words above the word 'Longreach' is 'Phillip Island' which is the name for VH-OEB.

I have to admit it does look kind of odd that the aircraft name is painted all the way up there, next to the cockpit windows. But then again, it is probably the first time (?) the aircraft name appeared on the fuselage for the B744 fleet.

After the incident in Bangkok in 1999 (i think), yes i believe so.

VH-OJA through VH-OJR have all worn "City of XXX" for as long as I can remember so OEB certainly isn't the first to receive the name externally. I can't say I like the placement of the aircrafts name, it looked a whole lot better where it was.

The revised livery however does look good on the 747!

looks pretty good on first impression but not as good as I'd originally hoped - but nevertheless it will grow on all of us and sooner or later the older liveries will look 'dated'
