Here is what it looks like - I can't understand why Qantas allows it to stay like that!
I hope they build the A380 better than they build the A380 website!

By the way, here's an interesting SMH article on QF's A380 simulator:

I guess the best place to learn about QF's A380's would be their very own.
http://www.qantas.com.au/info/flying/A380/index
Doesn't really give information on their first delivery, but has more than enough information and images about each of the cabins of the A380.
So is everything still on schedule for a September 21 arrival into SYD? Any timeframe given as yet?

Well it would appear someone let that Qantas section of the site go live a bit too early :p

the Qantas contents should come live on that page closer to or actually on the delivery date. Airbus has already made similar videos for the QF A380. I dunno who was clever enough to try that website so early... anyway the webmasters mustve been running tests.

Qantas are a bit ahead of themselves ;)

That's the latest that I've heard, but I didn't ask for the time.
I believe I've been requested specifically by one of the media photographers for the arrival to try to get that 'special' shot that no-one else will get. I've worked with them before, so it should be a lot of fun.

Radi, the initial slots (including the first wave of Senior Check and Check & Training Captains) went to A330 guys, most of whom were on the 744 before that. From now on, a large number of the A380 guys will be going there direct from the 744.
Other operators seem to have different 'first wave' crewing policies. SQ, for example, only gave slots to 744 (ie. 'large aircraft') crew.

Very nice vignettes - in addition to the interview with Nancy Bird Walton, after whom the first a/c is named, my favourites are episodes 7, 11 and 15.

Is that just because Airbus to Airbus is an easier/safer transition than Boeing to Airbus?

I thought it was because the pilots idendtifed for A380 ops were sent to the A330 to get Airbus experiance for a few years.

not sure what time the delivery ceremony begins but I'd assume it'll be around the same time as EK, 6pm WST or 8pm EST.

TOULOUSE, France (AFP) — Australia's national airline Qantas on Friday took delivery of the first of the 20 Airbus A380 superjumbos it has ordered and said it might buy more of the double-decker planes.
Qantas chief executive Geoff Dixon was at Airbus headquarters in Toulouse in southwestern France to inspect what he called the "revolutionary new aircraft" which is due to arrive in Sydney on Sunday.
Dixon declined to say how many more A380s his airline might order but said purchases of more superjumbos as well as of the next-generation A350 passenger jets were being considered.

A350's hmm?
I'm curious...perhaps this makes an intro of a 777-300ER aircraft into the fleet more likely as a stop-gap - perhaps a lease from ILFC?
