Browneye,

You'd be able to get a shot from the mound with your lens, even if the aircraft was in CBR! :D

Sydney got the China Airlines "Sweet" A330 yesterday with all the fruit on it. Anybody know what that is all about?

Healthy Eating in china.
The A330 is only going to CBR. NO WHERE ELSE.

Brenden,

Considering CI is a Taiwanese airline, I would say it has sweet **** all to do with healthy eating in China...

The relay will be on 24Apr. The plane is due to arrive 23Apr, so tomorrow.

China Airlines has 3 special painted aircrafts in relation to the argriculture department. 2x330s (Orchid and Fruit) and 1x738 (Lavender).

so who's going to drop by the airport before work to see it arrive? (but beware the traffic!)

I will be heading out in the morning to have a look. Sunrise will be broadcasting the arrival live so it should be here sometime between 6am-9am.

Today also broadcasted the event live. Landed 20 minutes early (0750), I must say somewhat a perfect landing!

Hi all!
Spent most of today within striking distance of the airport. Thought the torch and A330 might fly this arvo, however as of 1600 the covers hadn't even come off the motors. Shame it wasn't facing opposite way!
Anyone aware whether it is departing tonight, as I expect, or maybe a.m. tomorrow?
Cheers John.

Not too special but a rare sighting in Canberra in the afternoon.

VH-OGM operating QF957 from Brisbane to Canberra. Anyone know why it's a767 operating this flight?

Seeing out of the blue Ian Thorpe at the airport. I thought that was just very random that I saw him. Don't know if he was headed for Sydney or Melbourne but could it be related to the 767 flight?

Anyway... Not too special but not really worth starting another thread.

Alex.

It appears that while parliament is sitting they have put the 763 on the afternoon run.

The 767 is a temporary feature on BNE (at this stage) for most weeks Mon-Fri until end June. The Q400 weekday service has been cancelled for the same period (still operates weekends when there is no 767).

In other Canberra news, BNE becomes all E190 for Virgin from the end of this week (4 daily), with a 5th daily flight starting late July.

Virgin's MEL service also ramps up from July to 6 daily flights, and it appears a 7th flight also comes in late August. These appear to be a mix of all fleet types on the route (just like Qantas do!) - E170/E190/73W/73H.

Brindabella's J41 is now operating most CBR-NTL runs, with frequency downgraded to 3x daily given the extra capacity. Both TAH and TAI have recently been seen in CBR, though I expect one is soon (if not already) to be dedicated to the north coast run (all stops NTL-BNE-NTL)

Not sure if it has been here before but the AC A330 with the Olympic livery has just touched down in YSSY.

I took this when it was on finals. As i was taking this photo a security gaurd from the ports authority ask me to stop taking photos as it was a federal offence to do so. I had to have a laugh and moved on.

I hope no one from this board was one of the 4 guys literally hanging off the fence to get photos of it as it departed. That sort of behavior doesn't help the spotters' cause.
