I have some QANTAS ff points that i was wanting to use to visit a friend of mine in Vancouver.
Using the Classic points system, it came to 160,000 points to go syd-hkg-yvr and return, flying QF/CX.
Fair enough I thought, so I was mucking around and tried doing it a little bit differently. This time I entered my trip as a Round the world type trip, adding Dallas and Madrid (where I also would like to go).
The trip ended up looking like this:
Sydney - Hong Kong - Vancouver (stop)
Vancouver - Dallas Fort Worth (stop)
Dallas Fort Worth - London - Madrid (stop)
Madrid - London - Sydney (stop)
All this was only 140,000 points. Is this some kind of joke? How could all that flying cost less points than just going to Vancouver alone?
Maybe it is a case of they could offer it for 1 point, because you have buckleys chance of getting seats on all the flights?
does anybody have an explanation for this?
