Has anyone heard any info on the Jetstar A321's?
I heard a rumor that a brand new 321 is headed our way very soon?
Anyone with more info? :confused::confused:

Most of the new A321s will be fitted with a centre fuel tank.
Apparently they will replace the A320s on the Asia services. CGK, DPS, SIN, SGN etc.

Would be great if they put some STAR class on those birds as well.

I hope that Jetstar put StarClass back on the SGN Route!

Has anyone seen VWY or gotten a snap of her in the 'full' JQ livery?
I do believe this machine was also being containerized and getting a centre fuel tank installed, so maybe shes not flying again yet?

VH-VWZ received an interior revamp a few weeks ago actually. ;) The floors were stripped and new carpet laid that matches the rest of the fleet, and the seats were given a grey leather covering, but they are still the same shape/size/cushioning as how they were received from Spirit - not the exact same model of seat that is found on all the 320s. Having said that, it's a big improvement to the interior look of the cabin - instantly more modern.
I'm not sure if -VWY's interior has been revamped as well as I've only operated on -VWZ in the last few weeks. But the repaint looks great and actually the correct silver that it should be - unlike the more goldy coloured silver on -VWZ.

Funny you say they laid new carpet, that then reminded me, i actually really liked the spirit carpet LOL

VH-VWZ has disappeared off the MEL - OOL Route since saturday which normally it would be VWY then VWZ on a rotation each day. So maybe a paint job with the correct silver is in place?.
But apparently VWY got a ULD installed so maybe this is what is going to happen to VWZ?
Ill keep you's updated

VH-VWZ operated JQ 444 from Mel to OOl today as seen on Acars.

Fair enough. You might've liked the look of the blue carpet with the blue Spirit seats, but it would look strange if the blue carpet had remained with the grey leather seats. :p I think the grey has a cleaner look about it.

Both A321s are getting the loading system fitted to match the A320s plus both are getting cabin upgrades.
The brand new A321s which begin arriving mid year will also be fitted with a centre fuel tank plus the new airbus interior. (Similar to that found on most recent A320 a/c)

I really like the new Airbus interior, especailly the overhead Smoking/Seatbelt sign and Air Vents
Worst thing which isnt airbus' fault is its hard to see the row numbers.
But that's minor

Nice photo Lukas. And yeah the interior of the new Jetstar A320s (-VQC/D/E/F) are the same, obviously just with the grey leather seats, the orange strip along the overhead locker handrail, and the orange fwd and aft bulkheads.
The newies do look much softer and sleeker inside, really clean lines. It's actually modelled almost exactly on the A330 interior - has the same design PSU's which are seatbelt/no smoking signs, the air vents, reading lights and call-bell buttons/lights - and the side walls around the passenger windows are the same as 330, very flush. Cabin lighting is slightly more dim than all our other 320s, and still has the pure-white light that modern Airbuses have instead of the more yellowey/pearl light on Boeing aircraft.
Much less creaking, rattling and vibration on the new ones as well, as you'd expect.

Yeah i have to agree i flew on VQD back too OOL a few weeks back as u can see in my trip report and the cabin was a lot nicer but the only bad thing the seat numbers were orange background with black text very hard to read. i'd rather the models like VQN etc with the light up numbers on the airbus.

Additional pointless note in regards to your mention of lighting..

There's an example of what you mean.. the yellow-tinged white is called warm white and the blue-tinged white is called cool white.
I don't imagine Jetstar cabins would look too nice with warm white, considering the orange used in certain areas.

From a few days ago (VWY). Could be better with the bigger JQ seats though. But she certianly was one loud beast:D

i flew on VWY last night and they didnt have the screens down, as shown on your pictures lukas.
any reason for that?
Brendan Lawrence
18th December 2008, 11:53 AM
Certainly is Joseph. As mentioned by others previously, these second-hand A321s required a lot of touching-up/fixing-up when Jetstar received them and a lot of money spent, but there are still minor glitches and faults with the aircraft almost every time I fly on them. None of course which affect the safety of the aircraft, just aesthetic or service-related items.
I crewed -VWY today MEL-OOL-MEL (430/431) and like your flight last night, the IFE (both drop-down screens and the in-seat audio) was unserviceable for whatever reason. It's a bit 50/50 with those screens - half the time they work and the other half the time they're out of action.
Eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new 321s some time around May next year!

One does 3xMEL-OOL-MEL each day while the other one does MEL-CNS-MEL twice daily. Sometimes Gold Coast might get 4daily if its possible.
I believe from Feb09, the first new A321 will be serving Melbourne-Townsville-Melbourne

I think the first comment on YT says it all really... IDIOT!
I wonder if this is what caused the QF toilets to go out with maint issues (certainly would have for the NO toilet paper!!!

Correct in that one of them ops 3x MEL-OOL-MEL daily and there is also a 4th when the other aircraft is not operating MEL-TSV-MEL which is a 3x weekly service. The other aircraft operates MEL-CNS-MEL daily first thing in the morning, but the late service has been dropped.
I think February is a very wishful delivery date for the new 321 - I've heard May is more like it. And perhaps you might see them in Sydney from then Nick.
As for the toilet video, yeah - idiot, we're the bastards that have to change/replace them after he's finished with his little trick.

Re that YouTube video. I suggest anyone who feels it is inappropriate "flags" it. I just did. You will need to sign into your YouTube or Google account. There are enough vandals out there already and we do not need any more.

It showed some tool, shoving toilet paper into the toilet bowl, still connected to the ROLL on the wall and FLUSHING!
As you all know the 'force/suction' of the toilet flushing wasted a lot of paper and he did 2 flushes........
