I havent seen this posted as yet but SYD and BNE will most likely get aircraft changes from 30 march.
772 to SYD Daily
763 to BNE Daily.
This has not as yet been announced and is always subj to change. I am sure something official will happen soon.

It's a shame.......but that's progress.
If the internet had been around I'm sure we would have had similar postings about B707's & DC-8's;)

JAL is also cutting its capacity on the 747 fleet, removing seats if I recall correctly.

Isn't that called a Freighter conversion Monty? :D
It's fantastic news to hear that JAL are changing their equipment on the Sydney and Brisbane flights. Years of spotting 747's and the odd DC-10 from JAL the 767's and 777's will make a pleasant change.
Anyway, I trust this will only be a seasonal move and before years end we'll see the mighty JAL Jumbo come back?

Will the TYO-BNE rotation continue to be operated by JALways?
Pretty long leg for a 763

Agreed. As much as I like the 777 it is visually a rather nondecript looking Aircraft to the casual observer, (along with the 767 and to a slightly lesser extent, the 330/340) unlike the magnificently distinctive 747.
If there is a surprise here though, it's JAL downsizing. Aren't they the largest 747 fleet operator in the world these days?

Mike i think British Airways are the largest G-BNLA-BNLZ,G-CIVA-CIVZ,G-BYGA-BYGG . 57 in total. Are JAL operating B777 -200-200ER OR 300ER??

Nope...was up since 3am, so I'm surprised it made as much sense as it did!
Got the late shift tonight. I'm sooooo looking forward to it. Wanna swap?

Personally I'd love to see a JAL 777 in Sydney. I have enough JAL 747 shots plus I love the 777.

Well, that settles it. They just HAVE to bring the Tripler down now!

I am presuming that this means Sydney will no longer see the angle flat beds? What configuration do the 767 have?

I know JL have some brand new 763's not sure whether these are the ones were going to get but if it is should be a really nice ride.

I flew on a fairly new JL 767 last week from KUL-SIN.
Cradle seats in J and a light and airy white seat economy cabin. It also had a nose cam which was great!

JAL is to announce the FY2009/10 operational plan in 2-3 weeks, so the change may become a reality.

Wow 747 down to a 767 on the BNE route.... a big drop in capacity!
I wonder if this is also as a result of OOL now having direct flights?

Guess its good news for QF/JQ.
Both QF and JQ said last month that loads were improving on the Japan routes, hence the increase to daily on the OOL-NRT-OOL route.

Not really. The downgrade in equipment affects QF, as they codeshare with JAL.

Only BNE-NRT
I think JL gave up Kansai - Osaka to JQ and after checking out the Syd Airport site, JL doesn't even appear to code share on a destination not too long ago serviced by Japan's 743s.

So does anybody know if March 29th is still the day where the equipment will change to 772 ER to Syd, because that is what the JAL site says?
Thanks in advance
