Hi,
Just received a message via text of an apparent incident involving a Virgin Blue jet at Sydney. Possibly a wheels-up landing? Can anyone confirm?

Nothing in the newspapers, so I doubt a wheels up landing, they would be all over it faster than the fire fighters an get to the aircraft

I've thought the same thing and scoured all the resources I can think of. Got the message from someone passing the airport. Could be misinformed...

I can see aircraft departing 34L from my house
if it were a wheels-up landing, that wouldn't occur would it?

Not a Wheels up... just a rejected Take off.......nothing major
Dan: Maybe your source just couldn't see the wheels?
Cheers

Thanks Mark!
I'm glad my source retains some dignity lol! He's a truck driver doing runs to Botany and so probably right, didn't see the wheels, maybe a whole load of smoke and commotion.
Crisis over then :)
Dan
Added: Thanks Nigel, I also checked ATIS at www.rwy34.com and it said the same thing, so I was beginning to doubt my source. Sorry for jumping the gun, but figured someone would be able to correct me fairly quickly here if I was wrong :)

Sure, I'll go find a stock standard picture of a Virgin Blue aircraft on Airliners.net on the runway at Sydney...cos thats all the picture would show?

Not necessarily! Burst tires maybe, bitta smoke, glowing brakes! Would make a great photo! Of course I'm not sure if was a high speed regime abort but its not a silly request - don't be sorry Jack!
Also Mark, I'd be careful in referring to RTO's so lackadaisically. There's been much written about them in these forums but a high speed abort shouldn't be taken lightly - nor should a low speed abort for that matter, especially if below minimum control speed on the ground coupled with asymmetric thrust maybe?
Pilots are generally quite capable in dealing with these, most of the time, but lets not take away from the situation. :)

It was a low-speed RTO...
