G'day folks,

Interesting times ahead in the short and medium term for aviation companies providing charter services around WA, particularly mining related.

With BHP closing the Ravensthorpe nickel mine this morning and then scaling back operations at Mt Keith, there'll be a significant decline in mining charter movements.

Those in the know can enlighten us further, but I believe NJS do the Ravensthorpe runs and Alliance have Mt Keith?

If other miners follow suit, it'll be interesting to see what happens to the already scaled back redevelopment of Perth Airport, let alone the actual operators and the various aircraft on the books. Most of you already know that Perth has enough of an aircraft parking problem at the moment!

NJS does a mix of RPT and charter to RVT for BHP, and Alliance do Mt keith double daily mon-fri. I would say the freq for the RVT service will drop down to 2 a day and Mt Keith about 5 trips a week or there abouts.

Lot of footage on TV last night about this....showed a National Jet BAE-146 outside the terminal and aerial shots of Ravensthorpe.
