Hi all
Seems MacAir are in a bit of strife - Qld govt says no to further funding which I agree. They are a terrible operator. Hopefully a strong carrier will take over the routes and provide quality air services to the Gulf Region.

"It sounds easy, but the truth is there are a limited number of companies with the aircraft and expertise capable of providing these services"
Perhaps an opportunity for Air North to pick up some extra work after the mining woes? Or QantasLink? Or Skytrans?
I don't for one minute think that there are a "limited number of companies with the aircraft and expertise (expertise? What a crock) capable of providing these services".
Either way, so long as the buggers don't go broke before the 8th of February when I'm supposed to be doing TL-MA on them, then I don't care.

Sounds like something is happening behind closed doors that we don't know about.
Qantaslink have announced they will start up twice daily services on Mon-Fri and daily Sat-Sun services between TSV and ISA starting in March using Q400's. This is Macair's most lucrative route.
Just recently it was also announced that Alliance will increase it's Townsville base from 2 x F100's to 3 x F100's, 1 x F50 and a full engainnering base. The F50 is already here operating charters to the mines against Macair.
Time will tell.
