Are Skybeds available on the red eye special from Perth to Sydney? According to the Qantas website, this flight is normally operated by the A330.

If the flight is scheduled to be operated by an A333, yes. But if it is an A332, it is likely you would get an Millennium (domestic J) seat but on the rare occasion, you might be lucky to score a international configured A332 with Skybeds.

It is flown by a domestically configured A332 (-EBK ususally), so no skybed, only millennium J seat.

This morning it was QPB.

Also, I read a while back that PER-SYD flights, although classified as Cityflyer flights, are serviced to international flight standards, ie: amenity packs, hot meals, etc. Is this still the case?

While it is ordinarily a domestic config 332, you do get 333's operating the flight sometimes, so it can happen.

As for service, you do get a choice of two hot meals and free wine/beer from lunch time (Used to be able to buy spirits/mixed drinks, but these seem to have been removed at some stage). Haven't seen an amenity pack for a while.

On Mondays, the first morning flight in each direction is usually a 333, swapping over the aircraft that does the PER/SIN shuttle.

QF574 (PER/SYD)
QF565 (SYD/PER)

I'm booked on QF575 (SYD-PER) on a Friday and QF568 (PER-SYD red eye) on a Monday. What's the usual config on these flights?

QFA575 and 568 are an Airbus A330-202 (34J 265Y).
What dates are you travelling?

QF 575 on 6 March is scheduled to be operated by a domestic configured A332 which features the domestic J offering (ie Millennium seat with no PTV and no Skybed).

QF 568 on 9 March is also scheduled to be operated by a domestic configured A332. QF 574 on the other hand is schduled to be operated by an A333 (ie with Skybed).

If only I can have a Skybed on the red eye. Makes going straight to the office after the flight a little more bearable. :(

skybed equipped 332;s have operated the PER-SYD red-eye recently, so it could happen, but you can't really bank on it.

I was surprised to be able to redeem 2 business class seats on the red eye special. I read somewhere a while back this flight is usually full in business class. A definite sign of the worsening financial crisis perhaps. There was an article in one of the Sydney papers saying companies are cutting back on travel as much as possible. Execs are now flying economy class to save on costs.

Amenity pack in Economy went over a year ago. Business gets the Economy one.

The meal is the Tasman product.

Free beer and wine from lunch onwards. No spirits available for purchase.

Pillows and blankets on evening and early morning departures.

Just a quick question.

Is it true business class passengers have access to the Qantas Club lounge, irrespective of whether they have Qantas Club membership or not? I know Sydney and Melbourne have a domestic business class lounge, but Perth only has the Qantas Club lounge.

Yes! If flying business class on an award or paid for, you will get access to the QF lounges.

On the SYD-PER flight, does the plane fly over the Nullabor or does it fly over the sea towards Perth? It's my first visit to Perth so I'm deciding whether to sit on the left or the right side of the plane to get the best views.

You head from ADL to Esperance, All OCEAN.... no land at all.
