Hi all,

I can only assume that due to wx in PER (or enroute), ADL has received two QF 743's in order to refuel for the next leg.

EBX arrived shortly before 1300L from MEL and departed around an hour later. Not long after EBX departed, EBY arrived and is still on the ground.

Last week we had EBW in on Saturday due to the cracked window. Another 743 arrving to take pax for the remaining part of the flight to Sydney.

Always happy to get the classics into ADL.

Gives us something to geek at!!

Cheers

Thanks Monty!

I figured they must have had to have enough fuel for an alternative.. which no doubt would have been ADL!!

There was a post on the OLD board some time ago about where the alt for 747's into PER would be. But alas.. I cant do a search or anything to find out!! I cant wait until we get some good solid info on this board rather than some of the dribble which has leaked in here. (my two cents)

Thanks again Monty. :)

Gents,

I read in the incident report for the A330 below minima landing at YPPH that the only two aerodromes in WA classed as suitable for the A330 were Perth and Learmonth.

On face value, it would seem that a 747 classic would have slightly greater requirements. I'm sure one of the 747 drivers will put us straight.

747/330 has a choice of PER, DRW, ASP, LEA or ADL
767 has a choice of a lot more ADL, PER, KGI, LEA, DRW, ASP
737 and below, just about anywhere! ADL-FRT-KGI-PER

What was the weather problem?

In a dire emergency such as in-flight fire, I think you would find places like Meekatharra, Kalgoorlie and now even Esperance would be suitable. You would get the aircraft down and in one piece but the strip might be a tad short.
