There are not many profiles here http://www.airshow.net.au/avalon2009/airshow/profiles.html
Is the F-16 all I can expect? In past years there have been F-15s from the USAF and Aus Air Force turning up with its F-111s and F/A 18 planes. Am I missing something?

My guess is tough times, i have also heard a rumour the one and only display Pilot for the F-15 is needed in the USA the same time that the airshow is on, but i have found no solid evidence to proove this.
But the airshow organisers never release a full list of aircraft attending till the very last minute so its still a bit early to find out what will and what wont be there this year.

I heard that they are not releasing a list this year at all. However you will see one of EVERY type in the ADF.

No info to be released for a while yet..jst the normal F16/F15 USAF combo.
Personally id love to see the Singaporean f16 team they put on an excellent show.

Will it be doing a charter from Sydney Sarah? Or will they just pull one out of the hangers?

It is flying down from YSSY early morning and then flying back that night. It is not operating a charter.

Has anyone actually complained to airshow management? If so, what did they say in reply...?
The trouble is...the US and Uk and whoever else can promise they'll bring X, Y and Z all they like. But with the ongoing war in Afghanistan and other places of 'interest', X and perhaps Y may be required elsewhere in the world tomorrow, and then you'll get a whole bunch of disgruntled spotters complaining that "but you promised...". That's what happened to the F-117s a few years ago...Better to under promise than to over promise.
Plus, because of the timing of the White Paper (i.e. AFTER Avalon), there are no real current active campaigns underway expect maybe the P-3 and Caribou replacements, so why would a company bring an aircraft half way round the world if it has no plans to sell it here? Let's be real folks!

F-111 Performs a dump and burn at Avalon Airshow 2007. The 2009 Australian International Airshow will be held from March 10th to the 15th. At the 2009 Airshow, there will be a range of new aircraft; including the Airbus A380, F-35 Lightning II and the F-22 Raptor, there will also be the fastest aircraft in the world, the SR-71 Blackbird. It is also rumored that a BGM-109 Tomahawk Cruise Missile will be launched from a portable missile silo.

Im guessing this is a wishlist rather than the acctual list.
Its suprising they havent brought out the list of attending aircraft and its only 3 weeks away?

Well, considering the Blackbird was retired 11 years ago, and there are only two F-35s flying and the furthest they've ever strayed from Fort Worth is Edwards AFB, I'd say this Wiki entry needs a lot more than just a citation!
I was hoping the F-22 might be a possibility seeing as there are currently about 16 each deployed to Guam and to Japan, but I've been told by someone in the the know that they're not coming.

Again, read my previous post......and it's only two weeks away...:eek:

There is a possibility that I can get hold of trade day tickets for Avalon. Can anyone tell me if there are decent flying displays on the trade days or are they just static displays.
Thanks

Haha, thats the most ridiculous wishlist I have ever seen for the Airshow.
It is crazy & so stupid as to why they do not release what is coming?
Oshkosh release there attendees months in advance, & continue to update the public as to what is coming.
Take a look at www.airventure.org. They already have a list of aircraft & performers for there show, which is all the way in JULY!!!!!!
