From www.news.com.au;

QANTAS will add four Middle East destinations to its network after agreeing a new codeshare arrangement with Etihad Airways.

From March 29, Qantas will offer passengers access to multiple destinations such as Abu Dhabi hub, Bahrain and Amman from Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

“The new codeshare agreement with Etihad Airways is a significant strategic development for Qantas,” Qantas general manager, Mr John Borghetti, said.

“The United Arab Emirates and the broader Middle East are important markets for Australia in terms of both business links and tourism.

Qantas will codeshare on 21 weekly Etihad services to Abu Dhabi, followed by connections on Etihad services from Abu Dhabi to Amman, Beirut and Bahrain.

Etihad Airways will codeshare on selected Qantas services between Australia and Auckland, and also on a range of Qantas domestic services between Adelaide and Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney and Cairns and Sydney.

Members of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program will be able to earn points on all Qantas codeshare services covered by the agreement

At the same time, the AFL is pursuing Docklands Stadium in the Victorian courts following the rebranding to Etihad Stadium as the AFL feels this conflicts badly with its sponsor Qantas....all very strange.
