I am really tempted to spot on Saturday mornings but want aircraft to be landing on rwy16R, anyway I've never managed to wake up that early.

Just curious - is 6:10am bright enough for photos? I think the sun rises at around 6:45?

6:10am is still pretty much pitch black I am afraid.

Just wait for daylight savings to end, and go out in the week following April 5th - sunrise time is as early as 6:10am. Then, towards October, just before daylight savings begins again, sunrise is around 5:31am. I don't know how daylight savings affects flight schedules tho...

Check this (http://members.iinet.net.au/~jacob/risesetsyd.html) out for all the sunrise/sunset times for the year.

There'll be normally 3 early arrivals between 0500 and 0600. QF 6, SQ 221 and one of the BA flights. Most others seem to arrive an hour earlier than the current time if I'm not mistaken.
