I haven't used Qantas online check-in before, is it worth it? And is there a specific baggage drop off area for online check in?

Don't know about the rego's but the online check in, in my opinion is excellent, and yes there is a specific online check in bag drop area at Sydney, not sure about other ports but there is definately at SYD.

Make sure you get an "A" seat. Trust me, you'll know what I am talking about when you begin to decend.

Why not wait till the day.Even though someone might tell you the rego it could change over night.Look at the gate when you get there and then it is confirmed.

its just curiosity which some forum members seem have, hence the large amount of rego requests.
