Next week my old mum is flying QF2 BKK-SYD and I am flying a few hours later on QF1 to LHR. Does anyone know if it is possible for me to check-in for my flight at the same time as my mum, or will I have to let her go alone and return to the airport later in the evening for my flight?
If she does have to go it alone anyone know how I request some assistance for getting her to the gate? Is it as simple as asking at check-in or should I make a request before hand. (she is pushing 70 and not too good with airports)

As the check-in will be open at that time you shoud be fine to do it. They are join QF/BA desks managing all the BA9/10 and QF1/2 operations. I flew QF2 in June last year and checked in about 5 hours before so it should be OK.
In relation to assistance for your mum you should ask the agent or QF to add a 'Meet and Assist' (the SSR code is MAAS) and if required a wheelchair - there are 2 types WCHR (can climb stairs) and WCHS (cannot climb stairs).

Thanks for that, good to hear I should be able to check-in early. I know some airlines won't check in pax for flights until 3 hours before departure. Will just be a long wait in the Qantas lounge for me!
