So where are they headed... I presume they are freeing up some A320's to head across to Domestic NZ?

A321s will apparently be repalcing A320s on Intl Asian services.

They haven't hired cabin crew in Aus for a little while, the only recent recruitment was in Auckland/Christchurch so presumably the A320's freed up from the 321 deliveries will be moving to NZ.

So the regos are being delivered in reverse order. Its a shame they not use the A321 to fly to new places like Perth- Bangkok instead of just on existing routes.

Please refrain from quoting the whole previous post in your post, it is not necessary, thank you - mod

It's all about priority. They see it as a priority to expand JQ into NZ to replace QF than start exploring more expansion from PER to Asia.

Any news on Star Class for the International 321s?

I recently overheard a JQ cabin crew talking about the differences configuration for the new 321s. 1 toilet at the front and 3 at the back. Full galley at rear and a loss of one of the forward galley units (aft on R1 door).

No StarClass seating planned, at least not for the initial A321s due for delivery in the near-term. Any possible introduction of that on the A321 would be on future deliveries or else refits may happen down the track. It may remain only a feature of the A330 and B787 though.

You're correct with the config details there.
- 1 lav forward LHS, 1 lav rear LHS (just behind row 37ABC), and 2 lavs rear RHS (just behind row 36DEF).
- There will be a full-width galley down the back as per the current A321s, but only a half galley at the front with a thin bulkhead in front of 1DEF like the A320 fleet.
- 214 standard leather seats.
- Portable Video-On-Demand players for IFE, not the drop-down screens like the current two.

Looking forward to the first newie due in soon. :)

New A320 for Jetstar VH-VGZ seen taxing on the 13th. If Jetstar takes all its A320/A321s on order it will overtake Virgin BLue with fleet numbers is this correct?

Nice photos Andrew! She looks beeeautiful. The main landing gear looks immaculate - a few weeks flying and it'll be blackened with all that brake dust. :p

Hoping VWX and/or the other newies get a bit of a run on Domestic routes ex MEL just prior to its debut on International. Looking forward to working on a clean, fresh A321. Thanks for the preview!

Does that mean until June 1 she will remain in the hangar as an operational spare? Or will she just stay undercover fullstop?

Morning all,

Would appreciate any updates on VWX operating the JQ818 to Brisbane today per Andrew's post. I'm looking to fly back on the BNE-SYD sector just for kicks.

Craig Murray

Awesome, thanks Andrew.... really appreciate the update! Staff travel is useful in situations like this :D

I'm booked on JQ819 and short of it filling up between now and 1645 will be heading to Sydney on my first A321 flight. On arrival I'm walking straight over to Qantas and jumping on QF548 straight back to Brisbane.

Just flew on the brand-spankin' -VWW tonight; MEL-OOL-MEL (448/449). :D And parked next to -VWX (ops SYD-OOL-SYD) during turnaround at OOL.

It was very pleasant to fly an A321 with the new interior like the recent A320s, the cabin looked even longer with the sleek lines. The rear galley area with the 3-lav combination provides MUCH more room down there for crew and pax movements.

The mid-cabin exits also seem to have more room around them but I think that's just the lighter white, airy and clean feel of the wall panels and new seating. For those requesting exit row seats on the new models; the actual exit row seats at Doors 2, 11BC and DE still have the increased leg room but now have slightly decreased seat width, of which a couple of pax were only too happy to point out to me. 11A and F do not exist - the new 'best' seats at Doors 2 are 12A and F with no seat in front of you for a good 2 metres and you get the usual seat width. Doors 3 exit row (25) is still the usual 6 across.

Very smooth bird overall, lovely to fly on. ;)
