Don't know if this is unusual or not, but whilst driving past the GA? area yesterday, noticed an Atlas Cargo 747 and a V Australia 777 ? both parked there. Why would they be there?

I've seen both there before on a few occasions (I can't remember specifically if they were there together but I know I've seen them there separately at least). I'm assuming its because there isn't enough space at the cargo terminal for Atlas or at the SW parking area (currently being increased). Someone who works around the airport might have a better idea though.

It's stand-off parking for when the terminal and freight aprons are at capacity. The southern stand-off bays near General Holmes Drive are usually full during the day, as are the Northern Pond bays (near Airport Drive) so the Dom-6 apron is the final alternative outside of the Jet Base (subject to Qantas' operational requirements for parking within the base).

Gareth, the SW sector apron isn't being increased just yet, although there are plans for future development on the western side to create bays 76 and 77. The works going on in that sector are related to the Rwy 25 RESA project.
