BACKGROUND: Singapore Airlines was the first carrier worldwide to fly the A380 commercially. On October 25, 2007, the aircraft took off from Singapore’s Changi International Airport, operating flight SQ 380 to Sydney’s Kingsford Smith International Airport in Australia. Since then, the airline has operated A380 aircraft on this route daily and has also added a daily A380 service to London Heathrow. My husband and I had the chance to sample this new superjumbo on flight SQ 222 on February 22, 2009, flying from Sydney to Singapore on our way back to Dubai.
