Hi guys,

Just a couple quick questions regarding this aircraft?

1. Is she still operating for the Australian Military?
2. I saw her depart at about 1705 on 1 Feb (thanks ACARS & 16right.com) she departed from the imternational terminal, does any body have any idea what her destination was?
3. Is she still owned by Air Luxor and who are they actually leasing her too? ADF?

Cheers

Hey Mark,

I can tell you that it was in a few days ago(may still be in now) but was parked at the Pond as usual. As well as this, it uses the call sign "Aussie" so i can only assume it is working for possibly the Defence Force.

1. Yes, still on lease. I think the lease expires next year by which time the RAAF will have at least one of their KC-30 tanker transports
2. She does one or two runs a week to the Middle East, usually in to Kuwait via Darwin and sometimes via Diego Garcia
3. I think IFly bought Air Luxor out in 2006

Hi Mark,

CS-TMT appears on www.16Right.com (http://www.16Right.com) ACARS regularly, however the log rarely contains any route information. As Andrew mentioned, Darwin has been the only route information I have seen on ACARS.

The services this year have been quite regular, see here (http://www.16right.com/ACARS.php?Regno=CS-TMT&Flightno=&ACARSdate=&submit=Search).

CS-TMT is also a regualar visitor to Townsville. Not a week goes by that I pick it up on my Acars and SBS radar.

My house is right under the TSV-DRW flight path and I always go outside to catch a glimpse of CS-TMT when it departs TSV for DRW.

It seems to arrive from SYD then go onto DRW and visa versa on the return trip.

I've noted it in Perth on 19 occasions since 8 May 2005 and presume that I've also missed many visits.

Speaking of CS-TMT, it came through Townsville again today and I tracked it on my SBS Radar. It came in from Darwin then departed to Sydney (well it was on the SYD track by the radar so I am only assuming it went to SYD).

For the first time I can recall, CS-TMT did not transmit any Acars messages. I had my scanner on at the time with CS-TMT transmitting as callsign 'Aussie three six'.

Gents,

Air Luxor was re-branded HiFly in '06. The lease (according to the HiFly website) for the A330 looks to end around November this year.

Why if it is leased to ADF does it park @ YSSY so much. Could be at Richmond or other site when not needed or laying over.

It could be perhaps that the runway usage fees would simply be too much. I don't know the exact figures, but it's a LOT! So taking off and landing for every single trip to sydney, plus taking off and landing again to store the aircraft at YSRI, not to mention fuel, crew wages, etc etc etc, would all be a bit much.

That's my guess, anyway.

Because it can hardly get in an out of Richmond with any kind of load, because many of its inbound flights are subject to Australian customs and quarantine inspections for which Richmond isn't set up to handle more than a few dozen people at a time, and because Qantas and Menzies look after its maintenance and cleaning/catering etc.

CS-TMT inbound to Townsville now from Darwin as 'Aussie three seven'.
