Well this is certainly a different type of request from a controller that i have ever heard, as opposed to ride reports, holding patterns etc etc. The controller, Sydney radar, said along the lines of Ethiad 451, we have a fellow controller on your flight today, surname *** in seat ***. If there is anything you could do to make this flight as comfortable as possible for the passenger it would be appreciated.
I wonder what special treatment, if any, this lucky passenger will receive!!
Has anyone heard anything like this before?
Cheers
Gerard

I was working at Darwin ATC when my fellow workmates did the same for me on a QF flight to Bali.......
Hostie came down while we were at the gate and asked "are you Mr Phillips? The captain would like to speak with you on the flight deck..."
Off I trundled to be asked if I wanted to sit up front for the entire flight.....
Evidently my wife said passengers around where like....where has he gone and why didn't he come back......
Coped wife anger for not returning till after landing, but was worth it :p
Second similar event, mum had departed on a AN flight from Darwin to Adelaide after a visit when i got a call at work from the wife saying "come to the hospital now, I'm in labor....." , quick dash into approach on the way, with a 'can you pass a message to passenger Phillips in seat xx, your daughter in law has just gone into labor!!!"
Message was passed via Brisbane CTR to aircraft where steward walks on down and asks mum to come to the cockpit as the captain would like a word.
Mum sits down and crew produces glass of champagne and passes the good news......
Bit later on I get a call from her, telling me she's just landed and the crew wanted to know if there was any news.....sorry no baby yet!!! Oh well never mind, better you take these wines as a gift from us says the crew.....was a really nice thing for them to do

Wow, that is impressive Jarrad. Mind you, i guess it depends on the pilot at the time. He could have easily just sent a napkin with a note on it down to your mum with the flight attendant. But lucky her too!
