Slow news day or paid advertisement.
The 380 has been flying for a while and they come up with a story about the seats now?
Someone is getting their kick backs,

Are you saying Qantas paid Standards Australia or are you saying Standards Australia paid News?
The winners were announced on Friday at 11:30 pm in Melbourne.

Perhaps the judges of this competition should have sat in the seat on a 12+ hour flight first.

Have you? I have and I reckon it is pretty good compared to the 747 seats or those used by other carriers such as BA. The only complaint I have is the screen size is too big. Strange complaint but the problem is sitting so close I found it strained my eyes a bit.

Actually, only 7 of the 73 finalists were nominated for the Australian International Design Award, and NONE of those nominees comprised a toilet cistern or a pair of socks. Sorry to let the facts spoil a good story:
Of the 73 finalists, nominees for the Australian International Design Award were:
Qantas A380 Economy Seat – designed by Qantas Airways, Marc Newson Ltd, Recaro Aircraft Seating
BabyBjörn Baby Carrier Synergy – designed by BabyBjörn AB and Ergonomidesign
Cochlear™ Hybrid™ System – designed by Cochlear
Izona CookSurface – designed by Fisher & Paykel
Oticon Dual hearing aid– designed by Oticon A/S
RØDE Blimp microphone windshield – designed by RØDE Microphones
Sports-haler asthma puffer designed by DelvTech International

Ash ... I have, better seat than some airlines but personally nothing to write home about .... the screen and anything else for that matter would look big when the person in front reclines and it is jammed into your face.
