The service will operate on Monday and Friday mornings and evenings from 6 July with Beech 1900D aircraft. The four times a week service will make it quicker and easier to reach Westport. Instead of flying via Wellington then back down to Westport or to Hokitika then driving up to Westport via Greymouth.
Solid Energy has committed to supporting the flights who have workers who travel regulary between Head office in Christchurch and the Stockton mine near Westport where it employs 700 personnel.
