Is there anything as sad as an airframe sitting on a stack of pallets being parted out?
Brilliant photos as usual Sam. Thanks for sharing.
PS - When is the next book????

Great photos as always Sam! :D It is sad seeing so many of the 744's there, such as the SQ 9V-SPM.

I'm with Adam - when it is the next installment of Air coming out? ;)

I reckon that that an old aircraft being parted out is a great thing. It means that the aircraft completed it's life safely and can go on to help make new aircraft and keep others flying. In my opinion there are 3 great outcomes for an old aircraft:

1. Kept flying
2. Being properly maintained in a museum
3. Parted out.

nice work, it's certainly filled a lot since I was there in early 2008.

Interesting to note that majority of the 744's there have PW engines on them.

It is an engineers dream to part out an aircraft.we looked after them and should have a chance to put them to bed.

Sam

Thanks for the link - really interesting shots. I was especially surprised at the number of 744s out there, but I suppose they are getting on a bit now, and a number fo them are converted freighters.

I assume the ex-ATA 753s will be redelivered?

Well I'm going to respectfully disagree with both Nathan & Raymond. To me it's a tragedy to see a once majestic aircraft reduced to scrap. I of course understand why, but it just makes me feel sorry for the old girls!

Great photos Sam,Thank You.
Was just wondering how much money there would be tied in those planes if for arguments sake you took the list price of each one when new and added it all up,quite a few billion I would think !
