I just noticed on the ADL arrivals board an arrival of QF 739 from Mildura - no doubt a diversion of a regular RPT service due to ADL weather. Is this a regular occurence? What type of facilities are there at MQL for that size aircraft (I know DJ operates E170s there now)

Fairly nasty out there at the moment... take a look at the webcam. It's all over the place!!! It's having a "downhill" day.

the main runway is definitely long enough to accomodate a 737.

Apart from the airport being a ghost town it's pretty well equipped, it has instrument approaches that get down pretty low. The terminal is similar to the one you'd find at Hamilton Island (& similar regional airports) and that handles 737's and A320's fine! I saw a fuel truck driving around so I'm pretty sure there'd be jet fuel around especially when the E170 operates there

So THAT's the Rex Dash 8!

How long have Qantas been marshalling them for you guys, or did he just forget to swap vests??

Qantas B737 diversions to Mildura are rare, the drome can certainly accomodate them.

I noticed the tarmac has a " B737 " parking spot during a visit last January.

It is a strategic alternate drome, very handy to have

Virgin operate the E170 to Mildura from Melbourne.

The E190 has also gone to MQL on occassions.
