All,
There will be a small gathering of board members at the Duke of Gloucester Hotel (affectionately known as 'the DoG') at Randwick on Sunday 19th July at 1800 and you're invited!
Apart from an evening of socialising, a feast of some of Sydney's biggest and finest steaks, to be washed down with an ale or two (lemonade available for those under 18) will also be on the agenda.
Please indicate your willingness to attend (by replying here as well as the poll please).

It is easy to find if you're coming from the airport (as you lot would be after a Sunday afternoon of spotting!). Simply go north on Southern Cross drive and turn right at the first Shell service station, then at the next Shell servo turn left, then at the next Shell servo park your car and walk across the road!
See you there!

Don't worry Adam, I'm sure you can arrange to eat your steak off the floor.
Afterall, it saves the chef doing it when you send it back because your steak wasn't cooked the way you like it.

So who are the mystery three respondents to the poll?
And do we have anyone else in?

Just 2 more days to go until the great steak feast, and we're looking for a few more starters to join in the fun!
All board members and their partners are welcome.
Gatherings like this are a great way to get to meet and speak to fellow board members, as well as consuming some of Sydney's finest steaks and maybe an ale or two. The Duke of Gloucester is a friendly pub with a good atmosphere...and let's face it, I wouldn't be driving over 100km to get there if it wasn't!:D
I look forward to seeing you there!

I am planning on being there...
But as this will be my FIRST board 'outing' if you see a tallish guy, wearing glasses (40ish) wearing one of the freebie V Australia caps they were handing out at the arrival of the first 77W, wandering around appearing lost, please say 'HELLO'!!! :D

Bernie, we'll keep an eye out for you. We'll either be in the beer garden to start off with, or in the eating area occupying the big tables.

Or look for the guy picking his steak up off the ground ;)
Or one who is drunk and looking for a ride in a police car.

Ray, you'll be pleased to know he'll have a police 'escort' for some of the journey...;)

Have a good night all the same... ;)

Well if it wasn't Bernie who turned up then who was that bloke in the V Australia hat that certainly matched Bernie's description above?

Do I have a twin??
BTW, how was the night? I had a shocker in the end, as my laptop decieded to turn 'funny' at around 10pm, and I ended up spending the night trying to work out what was wrong... Vista (which says it all...) Startup Recovery Tool could not repair it, and then said that Vista OP can not find an OP! Yeah, go figure! Problem was, it has the presentation I am giving next week in Santiago on it, not to mention the photos I took in the UK in May!
It is with ASUS now, and they said it was a HD crash, and they are retrieving the data overnight... It's only 4 months old!

Hi Rusty,
Firstly, welcome to the board. It was great to have met you last night. I'm glad you were able to come and introduce yourself and that you had a good night.
Bernie, we were all stumped. I hadn't looked at the board in the afternoon, so I assumed you were still coming. If it wasn't you there, then it was someone who matched your description perfectly. He (whoever it was) had dinner with us, but I couldn't work out at the time why he kept giving me funny looks each time he was called Bernie. Now we know!
For all those who couldn't make it, you missed out on a good night. There were past and present members, as well as a new one there and a good time was had by all.
When a night at the DoG comes up, I highly recommend you all try to make it. The beer (or lemon lime and bitters for some) is cold, and the steaks are great. Although the chatter might have an aviation bias, there is plenty of banter and jokes to be heard. It's also a great way to meet other board users and find out who they really are and what they're really like. You're also more likely to find out just where they fit into the boards knowledge matrix.
So, next time a get-together is organised at the DoG, please try and come along. You'll be glad you did!:D:cool:

Rusty,
Glad you took the plunge and joined the fine fraternity that we are.
Many were enlightened by your sound knowledge of the trombone and how to remove rust stains from metallic objects.
I'll mirror Nigel's comments... the Beer is cold and so is the Lemon, Lime & Bitters ...
The barmaids are worth the effort itself just to get along to the DoG..
