It was towed to the Northern Pond east stand-off bays yesterday. The work they were doing was to remove some equipment from under the nose so they could then attach a towbar to move it.

The callsign they were using that I picked up on my SBS was COTTON 55.

Hi Mark,
On arrival to Sydney they used "Ascot 4203" as their callsign.

See thats what was confusing me before. I posted that in the thread i started before this one got started anyway. Are they using cotton as their local callsign and ascot as their international one like we use Trojan then Aussie?

The RAF uses "Ascot " as a call sign when flying within UK airspace too ..

Nice photos Andrew thanks for putting them up, but i gotta say that's a shocking colour for any aircraft to be painted! Should be put down in the worst scheme thread that was running before.

I somehow don't think the military paints their schemes to be looking all flash out in the battle field...
Target acquired....no, wait...that one looks too good to bomb....abort!
The two above shots by Andrew show well the instrument under the nose that had to be removed for the towbar to be used.

Yea but they could at least go with the standard gray or the dark gray. But i suppose its good to be different from the rest every once in a while
Would that be an infra red camera of some sort that they removed?

This aircraft is one of those used to assist the UK's Special Forces, so the colour scheme is suited to flying down in the weeds.

Does that mean you'll be wearing dark green for the golf day?
:p
