I'd like to know what you think is the world ugliest aircraft.
For me it would have to be the Nimrod.

The ATL-98 Carvair would take the cake for me.

The Carvair was my very close second. It was designed to ferry passengers and their cars from the UK accross the channel to continental Europe.
It's a conversion of the DC-4 and there were still 2 Carvairs in service as of 2002. (Information courtesy of Gerard Frawley).

Bristol freighter
Fairey Rotodyne
both as ugly as ugly gets. Argosy would round out for 3rd place, Stratocrusers definitely in the list too.

I may be crazy for saying this but i actually find the Cessna Citation X very ugly compared to others in its class. and the A380 is definitely up there too, don't know what they were thinking over in the design department!

Probably not too concerned with looks and more with functionality and getting it to fly. You have to admit it's a marvel regardless of its looks.
And Grahame that is definately one ugly beast.

Isn't that normally based at in Seattle at the Boeing Field... A converted 757?
I'm sure I saw it there in August when we were at the Museum of Flight, it was near the new RAAF Wedgetails.

Steve Jones

I think it's best described as a 757 with facial reconstruction surgery that went wrong!!

It's a test bed aircraft for the F-22 Floptor program. Lockheed is flying a 737 similarly kitted out for the F-35 program. Tests the flight control systems and sensors before the real thing attempts to take to the air. http://www.aviationnews.eu/2007/03/05/f-35%c2%ae-catbird-avionics-test-bed-transitions-to-lockheed-martin-for-final-systems-installation/
