I noticed yesterday that the morning flight CX111 came up as arrived on the Sydney Airport flight info page but, for most of the day, the corresponding outgoing flight CX110 was listed as delayed till 6pm. Later in the evening I noticed that the outgoing flight came up as cancelled. Did the morning flight come in and the aircraft go u/s or were both the incoming and outgoing morning flights CX111/110 cancelled? Thanks

Not sure but one of thier aircraft has been sitting over in the GA area all day and it is still there. Can't see the rego from my vantage point.

According to Cathay Pacific's website, CX111 did arrive in Sydney at 6:17am and the outgoing one indeed was canceled
.
Not sure if it is related or not but there is a CX flight departing to Melbourne tonight at 9pm according to the Syd Airport website as flight CX3332. I don't keep track of CX flights so i don't know if this is a regular or something to do with the above posts.

http://www.sydneyairport.com.au/SACL/images/flight-logos/CX.gif CX3332 Melbourne 3/9/2009 9:00pm 3/9/2009 9:00pm -na-
The last time this flight operated in Sydney under that flight number was back in 2006 according to www.16right.com (http://www.16right.com/) so maybe a re-positioning or something?

Anyone have any ideas on it?

Cheers

Thank you for all that information. I have just been doing a bit of supersleuth work and Gerard your theory of a repositioning flight looks very feasible. On Melbourne Airport's flight information page, tonight's CX163 due in from HKG at 20:40 has been cancelled. However, what appears to be the usual return flight CX168 is still scheduled to depart at 23:55 - no doubt by the repositioned aircraft from SYD. My first thought when I saw the CX3332 to MEL departure listed on the Sydney Airport website was that it could have been a cargo flight, but all the indications are that it's the repositioned A330. Thanks again

B-HLR, CPA168, getting ready to depart Melbourne now. Seems you were spot on Clive. Still, would be interested to know the reasons behind the various cancellations that initiated this shuffle of the aircraft.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm booked on CX110 in November. I have a longish transit in HKG and was hoping to get out of the airport to do a bit of sightseeing. I guess, space allowing, that if CX100 is cancelled I still have another later flight that will still make the connection. Looking on www.seatcounter.com I don't think availability will be an issue (assuming that a "9" reading means there's lots of spare seats)

assuming that a "9" reading means there's lots of spare seats

9 means that their are 9 or more seats available in that class.

Yeah, the logic would suggest that Rhys on one level. However from all my views of seatcounter on many different flights to different destinations, the maximum it only ever shows is 9. So I interpret that as being "at least nine" seats available, meaning it could be only 9, or it could be 17 or it could be or it could be 209. I guess what I am saying is that my lack of knowledge of how the calibration works I can't get any indication of the extent of availability beyond 9 seats in each class/fare classification. (...if that makes any sense)

Does anyone know the reason for the delayed departure of CX138 tonight. Departed around 10minutes ago even after it arrived 20minutes early?
